Our Story

50 Years of Academic Excellence

From four students in a rented classroom to one of South India's most respected educational groups — the Presidency journey is one of vision, perseverance, and purpose.

The Beginning

From Four Students to an Educational Empire

Presidency Group of Institutions was founded in 1976 under the banner of St. Paul's English School — an English medium, co-educational school set up under Karnataka Education Society. The founder, Mr. Abdul Hameed, began with just four students in a rented premises in Mahalakshmi Layout, Bangalore.

When Mr. Hameed passed away unexpectedly in 1980, the mantle of leadership fell on his young nephew, Dr. Nissar Ahmed — then just 17 years old. With extraordinary determination, he worked to build what his uncle had started, growing St. Paul's into an institution of excellence and eventually expanding to 15+ schools, colleges, and a university.

Mr. Abdul Hameed founds St. Paul's English School, Mahalakshmi Layout, with just 4 students in the Kindergarten section.

1980

After the untimely passing of Mr. Hameed, his 17-year-old nephew Dr. Nissar Ahmed assumes leadership and drives the institution forward.

1985

The Abdul Hameed Memorial Educational Trust is formally registered, cementing the group's philanthropic and educational foundation.

1992

The school is rechristened 'Presidency' — a name that would come to represent academic excellence across South India.
